Tandemonium

Friday. feelinga bit smashed after racing and that was the only thing i could think of to open this blog entry...very original i know.

So we had a rec ride this morning, left at 7:30 and did our usual cruise to the track and back.. racked up just over 40km... Then came back and chilled for a bit and then decided to wander down to the local pool.. only to discover it wasn't open for the public untill noon. So we just sat outside the fence under the trees in the shade and fell asleep on the ground. hey, it was peaceful alright?

After that, we then headed over to the supermarket Weis and did our grocery shopping and i picked up some more of my banana bread oatmeal.. hmm... oatmeal...lol. i'm a bit of a fan. we also got more baking stuff so we can bake cookies and muffins.. or eat the dough before its cooked because there just happens to be too much of it ;-)

Mickey, Brodie, Kath and Audrey then went out to a chinese buffet and Lara and i stayed home (not a great fan of the old chinese) and then had a sleep. turns out i slept for close to 3hrs lol..must have needed it! By the time i actually woke up it was pretty much time to get ready for track. Tonight it was 'Tandemonium'..in otherwords the USA national tandem sprint championships. We still had racing on though, had an elimination, 1 mile scratch and a 5km scratch with premes.

Rode the elimination pretty averagely...when i went to kick i had nothing left in me. it was going to be a long night. Mickey got 3rd and so was the designated omnium rider for the night. In the 1 mile race, decided to try do full team lead out. Lara, Brodie, myself then Mickey... worked a treat! althought was pretty stuffed trying to do a 2 lap turn...then in the last race was absolutely buggered.. tried to do best for Mickey and chased down a bunch but after the 3 lap turn was rooted and called it a day. Mickey rode amazingly and came from 10 back to win it and the omnium. good night for the team.

After racing, the velodrome has free food for the athletes and offcials so you can all socialise and stuff. met some pretty cool people including Marty Nothstein. kinda didn't know he was 2000 olympic sprint champion and went to athens and stuff aswell.. so was pretty embarassed when he said he'd been to sydney for the olympics and had to ask what for...lol. it pays to do your research! and spoke to the commentator, the velodrome director and other awesome people!

So yeh, another night of racing.. still got 2 more to go.. have 8hrs until i'm suppose to leave for my next race. great. don't get me wrong, i'm loving it over here... i just need a rest day and soon. i've hit the wall and i'm trying to run straight though it.

wish me luck for tomorrow. hope don't have to peel me off the side of the road
xo
